How or guide to make FPJ, FFJ

Natural pig farming harnesses these beneficial properties to successfully raise animals and grow crops in the most low cost environmentally friendly way. They are a key element of all inputs into the natural pig farming deep bed system, promoting health and preventing disease. They are also a key input to ensuring a healthy pig pen floor.
We tend to use two different enzyme/microbe rich mixtures (either of which can be used) that have foster high indigenous micro organism activity when used in the deep bed flooring. They are cheap, easy to make solutions and are produced by fermenting natural plant and fruit materials with sugar. These are diluted in water and poured via watering can onto the pen bedding once a week.

Deep bedding has its components and IMOs are one of the major  reason behind why DBS is the most successful technique so far  in clean pig farming.

1.) Fermented plant juice (FPJ)

This is one of the two very effective solutions we make to encourage high IMO activity in the deep pen flooring. Below is the process you need to follow to create your FPJ solution.
  • Pick plant material you wish to use early in morning before plant loses nutrient values to photosynthesis.
  • Any green plant / vegetation will be fine to use: We tend to use Chinese water vegetable which grows wild and is readily available but plants like banana sprout, young bamboo etc. can also be used.
  • Chop plant up into very small pieces
  • Add half plant material to a container and line with half the sugar
  • Add remaining half and add remaining sugar
  • Compress with weight on top (a bag filled with water is very effective)
  • Quantity: 7kg plant material to 3 kg sugar
  • Leave for 8-10 days
  • Drain and collect the juice – this is now your fermented plant juice solution (FPJ)
  • When ready to apply to bedding add approximately 2 spoons of FPJ to 10 liter of water
  • Pour via watering can onto the pig pen bedding (and then continue to add to the flooring on weekly basis)
Just this small addition of FPJ will stimulate high indigenous micro-organism development and activity sufficient to rapidly break down any excrement and keep the bed healthy and smell free.

2) Fermented Fruit Juice (FFJ)
This is the other solution you can use to foster high IMO activity. You can use any kind of fruit but those fruit types that are likely to generate lots of juice are best.

  • Pick the fruit
  • Chop into small pieces
  • Add 1kg fruit : 1kg sugar
  • Put half the fruit in a container and add half the sugar.
  • Add the remaining fruit and add the remaining sugar.
  • Seal container with paper lid (this allows for air to enter and leave container).
  • Leave for 8-10 days.
  • Squeeze fruit to extract all juice.
  • Pour juice into jar.
  • Use 2 spoons of juice to 10 liter of water. Mix.
  • With watering can pour water on the bedding surface of the pig’s pen.

Organic: Natural Feeds for pig/swine farming

In an era wherein advertisement of  high fashion and all sorts of  impractical crap are dominant. I`m lucky  that I was struck by awareness  to feel the need for change of lifestyle, so one way is to go organic. For me its practical in some considerable ways:

1. By growing my own  natural pork i`ll be able to blissfully swallow each gram of protein, sexy fat and yummy cholesterol knowing that its untouched by giant corporate whose main purpose is to profit.

2. A chance of completely freeing pressure on the pockets because of its practicality. In the sense that the  80% of the feed composition will be planted on the premises.

3. If farming brings relaxation then doing this method of organically growing pigs, will surely bring good fortune and good health.

I've scoured the web and here`s some of what I have found:

Composition of feeds and forages

The basic recipe of the feeds is rice bran and different types of crops. Divided into three groups and is all grown in the farm. This ratio is one sack (about 50kg) and ¾ sack (about 5 to 7 kg) of different crops.

Free of expense feeding formulation. korean mix.

Group 1: 50 % Plant source rich in protein , to supply 18-27 % crude protein Rensoni, Indigofera, Trichantera gigantea or madre de aqua, Saluyot, Azola, Mulberry,  Flamenga, sakwa/gabing sanfernando/ yautia / tannia / butig.

Madre de Agua

Group 2: 30% Vitamins and minerals, micro nutirents Kamote tops, Kangkong, Native spinach (kulitis), Talinum, Alugbati, Malunggay

Group 3: 20% Herbal nutrient & mineral For respiratory: Oregano, Lagundi and Banaba For lactating: Malungay, Lemongrass, Leaves of lady finger chili, and green papaya fruit For intestinal flu: Avocado, Guava, Star apple, OHN ginger Deworming: fermented young Ipil-Ipil leaves

25% "Organic" commercial feed. Thailand mix.

Group/part   1: 50% IMO food
                     Formula for IMO Pig Food
Ratio: 100 parts plant material / 4 parts sugar / 1 part salt
-Obtain edible plant material (any quantity). Examples include water spinach          (kangkong), fresh grasses, banana stems, etc. Consult with locals for                                     ideas for  local native options.
-Chop plant material into bite sized pieces, mix with sugar and salt,  b                              place in plastic or ceramic bucket.
-Cover with PLASTIC sheet and tie in place. This is an anaerobic                                     process that pickles the material.
-Food is ready to feed in 5-7 days. It will have a good smell and sour                              taste.  Make sure to rid of soil when preparing the mixture because it will destroy the  IMO.

Group/part  2:  25% rice bran D1
Group/part  3: 25% commercial pig food

How to prepare Ampalaya Leaves for Diabetes.

We all know that ampalaya is the beastfriend of DM and I read an interesting topic regarding ampalaya in www.pchrd.dost.gov.ph, talking about the effectiveness of the leaves rather than the fruit. I think this is very good for we can plant vines of ampalaya and harvest the leaves easily.

Here`s how to prepare ampalaya leaves extract, the DoH suggests the following steps:

  • Wash and finely chop amaplaya leaves
  • Add six tablespoons of chopped leaves in two glasses of water
  • Boil the mixture for 15 minutes in an uncovered pot.
  • Cool down and strain.
  • Drink 1/3 cup of the solution 3 times a day.

In the DoH article it says that "100 milligrams per kilo dose per day of ampalaya is comparable to 2.8 milligrams of the anti-diabetes drug glibenclamide."

With this I`m slowly thinking that I`m blessed that I reside in an area with little to less pollution and lots of free space to plant my future medicine.

How to prepare Guyabano or Sour sop tea. (how many leaves per litre)

My mother is not so lucky in genetic lottery hence she is diabetic and I've  noticed that  she has been drinking this tea for some time now and I asked why then she told me that the Guyabano tea was recommended by our elder who had also Diabetes Milletus and passed away comfortably.
Having heard the story I`ve  researched If it was true.. and boom.. I found out that Guyabano Tea is also a star in this sector of sugar sickness.

So here`s  how she prepares the tea. (and a common preparation through out the net.)

  • Step 1
Boil 1 litre of water , then add into the boiling water 15 guyabano leaves (preferably air dried).

  • Step 2

Dont close the lid and continue to boil on low fire for 30 mins until the water drop to approximately 500 ml.

  • Step 3

Consume the tea in a 7-8 hour period for at this time the tea is at its most effective. My mom pour the tea into a thermos.

Note: Drink tea 30 mins before meal.
